New Windows Azure Blob Features – August 2009

Today we are releasing a new set of features for Windows Azure Blob. Windows Azure Blob enables applications to store and manipulate large objects and files in the cloud. The blobs (files) can be up to 50GB in size for the CTP. All changes for this release are versioned changes, using “x-ms-version: 2009-07-17”. New Storage Feature: Signed Access Signatures

Among other things, the latest storage release supports something called “signed access signatures.”  The basic idea is to let you create signatures that are more granular than the shared key for the whole storage account and then embed these signatures directly in a blob URL instead of an authorization header.
