April 26, 2025Hello, Insiders! My name is Dheeraj Dogiparthy, and I’m a Product Manager on the PowerPoint team. I’ve got some exciting news to share: One of the most popular features in Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows and for Mac – the ability to link to another slide within a slide in a presentation – is now available in PowerPoint for the web!
Link to slides in PowerPoint for the web
Using this feature, you can now build dynamic, interactive presentations right from your browser. Whether you’re creating a clickable table of contents or a non-linear story flow, jumping from one slide to another just got simpler. Any links to slides that are added while in PowerPoint for Windows or for Mac now also function when a presentation is opened in a web browser, and vice-versa – making your workflow and edits seamless across platforms.
How it works
- Open a new or existing presentation in PowerPoint for the web.
- Highlight the text you want to turn into a link to another slide.
- Select the Insert tab, then the Link icon.
- Select This Presentation, and in the drop-down menu, you’ll have the option to pick a slide by number or title. Select the slide you want the link to take you to, then select Insert.
The hyperlinked text will appear as green and underlined, and when you click on it, it will take you to the selected slide!
Tips and tricks
- Type Ctrl + K for a quick shortcut to insert a slide link.
- Hover over linked text to preview its destination.
- If the option to insert a link is disabled, try creating a separate text box for your selected text.
Scenarios to try
Here are some great use cases of this feature to inspire your next presentation:
- Make an interactive table of contents: You can create a table of contents at the beginning of your presentation with each item linked to the corresponding slide, so viewers can find a specific topic or jump around with ease.
- Add context or details: Link key points in your presentation to detailed slides that provide more information, allowing your audience to explore topics in more depth should they choose.
- Create quick navigation: Slide links make it easy to navigate to relevant sections in long or comprehensive presentations.
Availability
This feature is available to all PowerPoint for the web users. Try it out.
