Collaborate in real time with Loop workspaces in Teams

Workspaces in Teams channels help you bring your collaborative documents closer to the conversation and enable you to:

• Brainstorm, co-create, collect, and organize content—together in real-time.


• Ensure everyone in the Team channel gets access to the Loop workspace, even as Team channel membership changes.


• Make sure that the workspace adheres to the governance, lifecycle, and compliance standards set by the Microsoft 365 Group backing the team.

How it works

• To add a Loop workspace to a Teams channel, click the plus sign (+) at the top of the channel and select Loop from the app list.

NOTE: Some users won’t be able to create a workspace due to licensing and policy configurations. Those users can still participate in a workspace created by another user for this channel.

Tips and tricks

• All the Loop workspace collaboration features are available as a channel tab. Navigate between pages and links by clicking the name of the page in the header. This drop-down navigation menu gives you more space to work in Teams (as compared with the navigation pane pinned to the left side of the Loop app).

• The members of the workspace are the same as the members of the Team Channel. When new members are added to the team, they get automatic access to the workspace.


• You can create one channel-managed workspace per channel. If you need another workspace because the channel topic has changed, consider moving existing pages and links underneath a parent page dedicated to the retired project. You can also create a new channel with a new workspace.  


• Don’t fret if someone removes the Loop tab by accident: when you re-add the app as a tab, you’ll be able to pin the workspace previously created.


• You can rename the workspace during set up. By default, the workspace name is the same as the channel name, but you can update it either during set up or after it has been created in the Loop browser app.

When should I create a Loop workspace from a Teams channel?

Create a workspace from a Teams channel to guarantee that all members of that team have access and can collaborate together.

Loop workspaces for Teams channels are perfect for channels that would benefit from a collaborative workspace and flexible pages—turning conversations into plans and action. Loop workspaces with channels are a great place for collaborating, whether it be projects, centralizing team knowledge, brainstorming, or working on shared documents, and more.

Loop workspaces in channels are a great tool for collaborative workflows where the audience might change over time. Loop workspaces in channels create a durable place for collaboration over the lifecycle of the project.

When should I create a Loop workspace from the Loop app?

Create a workspace from the Loop app when you want to directly manage who has access to the workspace.

We recommend using Loop workspaces for collaborating on teamwork, whether it be projects, centralizing team knowledge, brainstorming, working on shared documents, and more.

Creating a workspace in the Loop app gives you maximum flexibility in deciding who should have access to the entire workspace (without using a Teams channel to manage membership). Support for adding workspaces created in the Loop app to channels is planned for the future.

Requirements

You must be using a Microsoft 365 Enterprise, EDU, or SMB license to create Loop workspaces.

Availability

This feature is currently rolling out to all Microsoft 365 subscribers who meet the requirements mentioned above.
