April 29, 2025Advancing Fine-Tuning in Azure AI Foundry: April 2025 Updates
April 29, 2025We are excited to announce the general availability of Azure Compute Fleet, a new service that allows you to simply manage and deploy thousands of virtual machines (across a mix of SKU’s, VM type, Availability Zones, and pricing models).
Azure Compute Fleet provides infrastructure for your workloads. Azure Compute Fleet simplifies
- Allocation of VMs via different allocation strategies to best fit your workload needs
- Cost structure for your workload by mixing standard and Spot VMs as defined by the customer
- Deployment using different VM SKUs
- Acquisition of capacity by working real time capacity systems to ensure successful allocation of VMs
Customers are using Azure Compute Fleet for:
- Large data systems
- Batch workloads
- Stateless workloads
- Financial risk analysis
- Large scale Image rendering
- Building infrastructure using in-house platform to support variety of workloads
Azure Compute Fleet helps automate your deployment, management, and monitoring of virtual machines (VMs) without requiring intricate code frameworks. Tell us what you need, e.g., capacity needed, list of SKUs and price structure (Standard and Spot VM) and Azure Compute Fleet will deploy capacity, tailored to your workload requirements.
For workloads that run on Spot for cost savings, a challenge that Azure Compute Fleet solves is maintaining capacity in cases of evictions to maintain target capacity. This is an important aspect to make workloads successful on Spot as customers now no longer have to deal with evictions and re-provisioning as Azure Compute Fleet will take over that ownership of maintaining target capacity.
Azure Compute Fleet allows you to accelerate your access to Azure’s compute capacity in a region by launching a combination of Standard and Spot VMs at the lowest price and highest availability. You can attain superior price-performance ratios by utilizing a blend of diverse pricing models, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plan, Spot, and Pay-As-You-Go (PYG) options.
Key Benefits
- Deploy up to 10,000 VMs
- Mix multiple Azure pricing models (Standard /Spot)
- Mix multiple VM SKUs/sizes
- Realtime capacity aware allocations
- Hyperscale using Spot VMs
- Maintain Spot VM target capacity
- Optimize for price, capacity or both
