Today we’re expanding model choice in Microsoft 365 Copilot with the addition of Anthropic’s latest model—Claude Opus 4.8. Available now in Copilot Cowork (Frontier) and rolling out to Copilot Chat, Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot Studio. 

Opus 4.8 builds on Opus 4.7 and previous Opus model strengths. It is designed for complex, multi-step coding tasks and long-horizon agentic work—with improved tool selection, closer adherence to your instructions, and better follow-through across multi-turn workflows.

Opus 4.8 is also stronger at drafting documents, data analysis, and presentations and when combined with Work IQ your outputs are grounded in your organization’s context, so they’re more relevant to your work.

Claude Opus 4.8 is available today in the model selector for eligible users in Copilot Cowork (Frontier) and rolling out to Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users in Copilot Chat, Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot Studio early release cycle environments.
