July 21, 2026Meet Herish Chaniyara, who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Gujarat Technological University in Gujarat, India.
This is the next segment in our blog series highlighting graduating Microsoft Student Ambassadors who achieved the Senior milestone, the highest level in the program. Each blog features a different Senior Ambassador and explores how the program helped shape their technical skills, leadership experience, professional growth, and future career opportunities.
How has being part of the Microsoft Student Ambassadors community helped you connect with other tech enthusiasts and expand your global network?
Being part of the Microsoft Student Ambassadors community has connected me with passionate learners, developers, researchers, and mentors from around the world. Through community calls, technical events, and collaborative learning opportunities, I gained exposure to diverse perspectives in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and modern software development.
As a Senior Microsoft Student Ambassador, I organized Azure and AI-focused events, actively participated in community initiatives, and mentored nearly 50 students interested in cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and other IT career paths. Beyond technical knowledge, the program helped me build meaningful professional relationships while strengthening my communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
The supportive community inspired me to continuously learn, share knowledge, and contribute back to the ecosystem. These experiences have shaped my growth as both a technology professional and a mentor, encouraging me to help others while continuing to learn from an incredible global network.
What impact did access to Microsoft tools and resources, such as Azure credits, Visual Studio Enterprise, and Copilot, have on your growth as a technology leader?
Microsoft’s ecosystem played a significant role in accelerating my technical growth. Azure credits enabled me to explore cloud services, AI solutions, and real-world deployment scenarios, while Microsoft Learn provided structured learning paths that strengthened my understanding of AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot became valuable tools throughout my daily workflow for coding, debugging, documentation, research, and content creation. These tools allowed me to work more efficiently, experiment with new ideas, and focus on solving complex problems while continuously improving my technical skills.
The practical experience I gained through Microsoft technologies helped bridge the gap between academic learning and professional work. Today, I apply these skills in cybersecurity research, mentoring students, technical blogging, and building secure, AI-enabled solutions. The Microsoft Student Ambassadors program empowered me to become not only a better learner but also a more confident technology leader.
In what ways has the Student Ambassadors program strengthened your resume, boosted your confidence, or helped you develop skills that will support your future career?
The Microsoft Student Ambassadors program has been one of the most influential experiences in my professional journey. It strengthened my confidence in public speaking, mentoring, technical communication, and community leadership while encouraging me to continuously expand my knowledge in AI, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity.
The opportunities to organize events, collaborate with ambassadors worldwide, and mentor nearly 50 students helped me grow beyond technical skills. These experiences improved my leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while preparing me for real-world challenges.
The skills and exposure I gained through the program directly supported my career progression. I currently work as a Junior Research Fellow (Cybersecurity) under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase III, a national initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, focused on cybersecurity education, awareness, and research. Previously, I worked as a Cybersecurity Engineer performing full-scope vulnerability assessments and penetration testing. I have also been recognized in the PortSwigger Web Security Academy Hall of Fame.
Most importantly, the Student Ambassadors program transformed me from a passionate learner into someone who is committed to sharing knowledge, mentoring aspiring professionals, contributing to the cybersecurity community, and continuously learning to make a meaningful impact through technology.
