Meet Saksham Kumar, who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amaravati Campus in Andhra Pradesh, India.

This is the next segment in our blog series highlighting graduating Microsoft Student Ambassadors who achieved the Senior milestone, the highest level in the program. Each blog features a different Senior Ambassador and explores how the program helped shape their technical skills, leadership experience, professional growth, and future career opportunities.

How has being part of the Microsoft Student Ambassadors community helped you connect with other tech enthusiasts and expand your global network?

Microsoft Student Ambassadors was my first opportunity to represent myself and my community on a global scale. Starting out as a Branch Lead at my university allowed me to focus heavily on building a tight-knit, driven tech community right on campus. Moreover, stepping into the roles of Moderator for the Discord Community completely redefined my definition of impact and community. Talking to people around the world, helping them achieve their goals, whilst upskilling and networking, opened doors to collaborating with brilliant community leaders, entrepreneurs and tech advocates across diverse fields.

Whether we are planning out a workshop, managing initiatives or just geeking out new frameworks, the program helped to get the best out of me, dissolving social and geographical barriers. It gave me a global network of peers, mentors, and lifelong friends who share the same relentless passion for technology and community building.

What impact did access to Microsoft tools and resources, such as Azure credits, Visual Studio Enterprise, and Copilot, have on your growth as a technology leader?

Access to enterprise-grade tools shifted my mindset from that of a student to an engineer building scalable solutions. Having substantial Azure credits provided a frictionless sandbox to experiment with deploying real-world backend architectures and hosting complex software implementations without worrying about infrastructure costs.

Meanwhile, tools like VS Enterprise and Copilot helped me streamline my developer workflow. It allowed me to experiment with tools like Power Platform for building agents, automating workflows and focus more on high-level system design and optimization. Having these resources at my fingertips didn’t just accelerate my technical capability; it gave me the confidence to lead complex projects and architect robust, production-ready software.

In what ways has the Student Ambassadors program strengthened your resume, boosted your confidence, or helped you develop skills that will support your future career?

The program served as the bridge between academic theory and real-world excellence. Standing in front of hundreds of students to lead technical workshops—such as introducing peers to the fundamentals of AI and modern development practices—completely solidified my communication skills and shattered any public speaking anxiety I once had.

Managing teams, coordinating large-scale events, and driving engineering initiatives gave me tangible leadership metrics that made my resume stand out. The experience taught me how to balance technical execution with people management, directly preparing me to step into the industry and build my startup. I am graduating from the program not just with technical knowledge, but with the professional maturity needed to tackle large-scale engineering challenges.
